माध्यमिक शिक्षा व्यावसायीकरण योजना
Ministry of Human Resource Development
Launched in 1988-89 following NPE 1986, this Centrally Sponsored Scheme aimed to divert 25% of secondary students to vocational streams by 2000. It introduced vocational subjects in Class 11-12 through state boards in agriculture, engineering, business, health, home science, and humanities trades. Over 21,000 vocational sections were established in 18,000 schools across India. The scheme was revised and its implementation transferred to states under Samagra Shiksha.
