Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC)

iAbout This Scheme

Launched in 2000-01 (following earlier mini-missions from the 1990s), the Technology Mission on Cotton aimed to increase cotton production, improve quality, and strengthen the cotton value chain through four mini-missions covering research and development, transfer of technology, market infrastructure, and processing. TMC supported HYV and Bt cotton seed development and improved ginning facilities. It was restructured under the National Food Security Mission (Commercial Crops) framework.
