SBM-U aims to make urban India open defecation free and improve solid waste management in cities and towns. Phase I (2014-2019) achieved 100% toilet coverage; Phase II (2021-2026) focuses on sustaining ODF status, achieving ODF+, and making cities garbage-free with source segregation of waste.
