RWBCIS provides insurance coverage against weather risks (rainfall, temperature, frost, humidity, wind speed) that affect crop yields. Unlike area-based yield schemes, it uses weather indices from rain gauges to trigger automatic payouts, reducing disputes and speeding up claim settlement. It is offered alongside PMFBY for horticultural and plantation crops.
