Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) — Original Design

Launched on 15 August 2008 by merging the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP), PMEGP provided credit-linked subsidy for setting up micro-enterprises in non-farm sector. It provided 15-35% subsidy (margin money) on project cost up to ₹25 lakh for manufacturing and ₹10 lakh for services. Implemented through KVIC, KVIB, and DIC, PMEGP continues today but in significantly modified form since its original 2008 design.
