PM POSHAN (formerly Mid-Day Meal Scheme) provides hot cooked meals to students in government and government-aided schools from Class 1 to 8 every school day. It is the world's largest school feeding programme, improving enrollment, retention, attendance, and nutritional outcomes for school children.

• Hot cooked nutritious meal every school day (minimum 200 days/year)
• Primary (Class 1-5): 450 calories and 12g protein per meal
• Upper Primary (Class 6-8): 700 calories and 20g protein per meal
• Cooking cost: ₹5.45/day (primary); ₹8.17/day (upper primary) — revised annually
• Covers government, government-aided, local body, and Madarsa/Maktab schools
• Special meals during summer vacation in some states
