PMMVY is a maternity benefit programme providing ₹5,000 in cash incentives to pregnant and lactating women for their first live birth. The scheme compensates for wage loss during pregnancy and encourages institutional delivery, adequate nutrition, and early childhood care.

₹5,000 in three installments for the first live birth
First installment: ₹1,000 on early registration of pregnancy
Second installment: ₹2,000 after six months of pregnancy and one ANC checkup
Third installment: ₹2,000 after child birth registration and first round of BCG/OPV/DPT/Hepatitis-B
Under 2.0 (2022), second child (girl) also gets ₹6,000 in two installments

First Instalment (₹3,000)

❓Frequently Asked Questions

Does PMMVY cover second child if it is a boy?

No. The ₹6,000 incentive for the second birth is only applicable if the second child is a girl. For a second male child, no PMMVY benefit is provided.

Can government employees claim PMMVY?

No. Pregnant and lactating women who are Central or State Government employees (or drawing similar benefits under any other law) are not eligible for PMMVY.
