Planning Commission / Ministry of Rural Development
Launched in 2000-01, the Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana was an umbrella scheme for additional central assistance to states for basic services including primary health, primary education, rural shelter, rural drinking water, rural electrification, and nutrition. It was designed to address the Minimum Needs Programme targets. PMGY was restructured in 2001-02 when some components were merged with Bharat Nirman and standalone scheme frameworks.
