प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना

Launched on 25 December 2000 by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PMGSY aimed to provide all-weather road connectivity to every unconnected habitation with population of 500+ persons (250+ in hilly and tribal areas) in rural India. Phase I was funded through diesel cess and aimed to connect 1.67 lakh unconnected habitations. It is India's most successful rural roads programme and continues in Phase III, though the original Phase I mandate was declared complete by 2019.
