राष्ट्रीय सामाजिक सहायता कार्यक्रम
Ministry of Rural Development
Launched in August 1995 as India's first unified social protection programme for BPL households, the original NSAP bundled three components: the National Old Age Pension Scheme (NOAPS), National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), and National Maternity Benefit Scheme (NMBS). NSAP represented a Constitutional commitment to social security and was a direct cash transfer scheme long before DBT became mainstream. The programme has been substantially revised multiple times, with Annapurna added in 2000 and all components renamed in 2007-09.
