Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation
One of the eight national missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC, 2008), NMSA was formally launched in 2010 to promote sustainable agriculture practices, enhance soil health, improve water efficiency, and build adaptive capacity to climate change. NMSA supported soil health card distribution (precursor to Soil Health Card Scheme), micro-irrigation, and climate resilient agriculture. The original NMSA framework was restructured and components split into the Soil Health Card Scheme, PMKSY, and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana in 2015-16.
