Launched in 2005-06 during the Tenth Five Year Plan to holistically develop the horticulture sector by ensuring availability of quality planting material, improving pre- and post-harvest management, and expanding area under fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and plantation crops. NHM set targets for doubling horticultural output by 2012. It was subsumed under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) in 2014-15.
