राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा मिशन — प्रथम चरण
Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation
Launched in 2007-08 during the Eleventh Plan in response to food security concerns, Phase I of NFSM aimed to increase production of rice (10 MT), wheat (8 MT), and pulses (2 MT) in selected districts through area expansion and productivity improvement. It distributed improved seeds, farm mechanisation support, and promoted sustainable agriculture practices. Phase I targets were largely met and the Mission continued with expanded scope in Phase II including coarse cereals and commercial crops.
