राष्ट्रीय अप्रेन्टिसशिप प्रोत्साहन योजना (NAPS)
Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship
The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a central government initiative that incentivises companies to hire and train apprentices by sharing 25% of the prescribed stipend (up to ₹1,500 per month per apprentice) with the employer. This financial incentive encourages small and medium enterprises that would otherwise not hire apprentices — expanding the pool of apprenticeship opportunities across India.
Apprenticeship is a structured, workplace-based training programme that combines on-the-job learning with theoretical instruction. Upon completing the apprenticeship (which typically lasts 1–3 years depending on the trade), the apprentice receives a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) — a government-recognised qualification that significantly improves employment prospects. Trades range from electrician, welder, and fitter to software developer, data analyst, and healthcare assistant.
Students and job seekers can search for apprenticeship opportunities and register directly at apprenticeshipindia.org. Employers ranging from large PSUs to small manufacturers post openings on the portal. After registration, your profile is visible to employers who can directly invite you for apprenticeship interviews. There is no age limit for apprenticeship registration, but preference is given to ITI pass-outs and diploma holders. Our editorial team reviewed scheme benefits and registration process at the official portal, July 2026.
