Mission Shakti is the overarching scheme for safety and empowerment of women, launched in 2021-22 by merging Mission for Protection and Empowerment for Women (Nirbhaya Fund schemes) and BBBP. It has two sub-schemes: SAMBAL (protection) covering One Stop Centres, Women Helpline 181, Beti Bachao; and SAMARTHYA (empowerment) covering PMMVY, creches, Swadhar Greh, STEP.
