Janashree Bima Yojana (JBY)

iAbout This Scheme

Launched by LIC of India in August 2000 (with roots in the 1988 Social Security Group Insurance Scheme for the rural poor), Janashree Bima Yojana provided life and disability insurance to BPL rural households and 45 identified occupational groups at a premium of ₹200 per year. It was merged with the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana (AABY) in 2013 and the combined scheme was eventually succeeded by PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana in 2015.
