Launched in October 2010, IGMSY was a conditional cash transfer scheme for pregnant and lactating women aged 19 years and above for their first two live births. It provided ₹6,000 in three instalments conditional on ante-natal check-ups, institutional delivery, and post-natal immunisation. IGMSY was piloted in 53 districts and eventually renamed the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) in 2017 and universalised.
