काम के बदले अनाज कार्यक्रम
Ministry of Rural Reconstruction
The Food for Work Programme was launched in 1977-78 by the Janata government to utilise surplus foodgrain stocks accumulated under the PDS to generate rural employment. Workers in drought-affected and DPAP areas were paid partly or fully in foodgrains instead of cash wages for public works. The programme was the direct precursor to the National Rural Employment Programme (NREP) of 1980 and later the National Food for Work Programme (NFFWP) of 2004.
