मरुस्थल विकास कार्यक्रम
Ministry of Agriculture
Launched in 1977-78 to address the problem of desertification in hot desert areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana, and cold desert areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. DDP promoted afforestation, sand dune stabilisation, water conservation, and alternative livelihoods in 40 desert-affected districts. Like DPAP, it was merged into the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) in 2009.
