दीन दयाल उपाध्याय ग्रामीण कौशल्या योजना
Ministry of Rural Development
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a placement-linked skill development scheme specifically for rural youth from poor families. What makes DDU-GKY distinct from other skill schemes is its emphasis on outcomes rather than training alone — training providers are paid primarily based on placements achieved and job retention beyond 3 months, not just training completions. This creates a strong incentive for quality training.
The scheme targets rural youth aged 15–35 years from households covered by MGNREGA job cards or below poverty line lists. Training is provided free of cost, and trainees receive free accommodation, meals, and transport in many residential training centres. The training duration is 3 months to 12 months depending on the course, and successful trainees receive industry-recognised certificates. Post-placement support includes a minimum salary of ₹6,000 per month in the first year.
Apply through your Block Development Office or District Programme Coordinator or at kaushalyas.gov.in. Priority is given to SC/ST/women/minorities/persons with disabilities and manual scavenger families. The scheme operates through empanelled training partners (private training companies and NGOs) across India. Our editorial team reviewed placement rates and eligibility criteria against the Rural Development Ministry and NRLM official guidelines, July 2026.
DDU-GKY funds skill training of rural poor youth aged 15-35 and links them to regular employment with minimum wages. It is a placement-linked programme — PIAs (Project Implementing Agencies) receive full payment only after securing confirmed job placements for trained candidates, ensuring accountability.
