बालिका समृद्धि योजना
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare / Women and Child Development
Launched in August 1997 to combat the practice of female infanticide and improve the status of the girl child in rural BPL families, the Balika Samridhi Yojana provided a post-delivery grant of ₹500 to the mother and annual scholarships to the girl child from Class I to X. The scholarship amounts were deposited in the girl's bank account and could only be withdrawn after marriage at age 18. BSY was merged into the Kishori Shakti Yojana in 2000-01.
