पिछड़ा क्षेत्र अनुदान कोष
Ministry of Panchayati Raj
Established in 2006-07, the Backward Regions Grant Fund provided untied development grants to 272 identified backward districts in 27 states to address regional imbalances and accelerate development. Districts received an annual grant of ₹10-30 crore for filling critical infrastructure gaps not covered by other schemes. BRGF had a strong Panchayati Raj emphasis with funds flowing directly to district and panchayat level. It was discontinued in 2015-16 after being assessed as having poor utilisation in many states.
