Check Official WebsiteLaunched on 25 December 2000, the Antyodaya Anna Yojana identified the poorest of poor (1 crore families initially) among BPL ration card holders and provided them 35 kg of foodgrains per month at highly subsidised rates (₹2/kg rice, ₹3/kg wheat). AAY was expanded in three phases to cover 2.5 crore families. While the scheme continues as part of NFSA 2013, the original standalone AAY structure was subsumed into the National Food Security Act framework.
