Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP)

iAbout This Scheme

Launched in 1996-97 to provide loan assistance to states to help complete long-pending irrigation projects and thereby create additional irrigation potential at the earliest. AIBP provided central loan (later grant) assistance to states for completing major/medium irrigation projects that had been languishing for years due to fund shortage. AIBP was restructured and reformed under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) framework in 2015-16 as the PMKSY-AIBP component.
