📋About this Recruitment

Central and state police forces together form one of the largest uniformed services employment sectors in India. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) — comprising CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, and NSG — are recruited by SSC through the SSC GD Constable examination, one of the largest single recruitment drives with lakhs of vacancies notified periodically. State police forces recruit through their respective State Police Recruitment Boards, with vacancies for Constable, Sub-Inspector (SI), Inspector, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) through combined state examinations. Police jobs offer a unique combination of authority, job security, and competitive salary. CRPF GD Constable (Pay Level 3) starts at ₹21,700 per month basic pay, which with DA (currently 50%), HRA, ration money, and risk allowance results in an in-hand salary of approximately ₹38,000–₹45,000 per month. Police officers also receive free uniform, subsidised accommodation in police quarters, medical benefits, and Group Insurance. Most police posts require physical fitness in addition to written examination — candidates must prepare for both.

1. 1For SSC GD Constable, apply at ssc.gov.in. For state police jobs, visit the respective State Police Recruitment Board website.
2. 2Verify your eligibility for physical standards BEFORE applying: check height (170 cm for general males), chest measurement, and vision standards.
3. 3Complete the online registration with personal details. Save the registration number carefully.
4. 4Fill the application form with accurate educational qualification, category, and domicile state details.
5. 5Upload passport photograph and signature. Pay the application fee as specified.
6. 6After selection in the written exam, prepare for Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) which are qualifying in nature.
