SSC CHSL

SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit candidates for posts like Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal/Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator (DEO), and DEO Grade A. These are entry-level central government posts for candidates who have passed Class 12 (10+2), making CHSL the most accessible SSC examination.

SSC CHSL is a two-tier examination: Tier 1 is a computer-based objective test (200 marks, 60 minutes) covering English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. Tier 2 has evolved to include a computer-based objective paper plus a skill test (typing or data entry speed test) for specific posts. The typing test requires 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi on a computer.

Unlike SSC CGL, CHSL posts are at Pay Level 2–4 (₹19,900–₹25,500 basic pay) — lower salary but also lower competition and an easier exam. Many candidates prepare for both CHSL and CGL simultaneously since the syllabus overlap is significant.
