पीएम विश्वकर्मा योजना
Ministry of MSME
PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a central government scheme launched in September 2023 to support traditional artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools — covering 18 trades including carpenter, blacksmith, mason, cobbler, weaver, potter, goldsmith, tailor, barber, and washerman. The scheme provides a comprehensive package: recognition as a PM Vishwakarma, skill training, modern toolkits, credit support, and market linkage.
The credit component is particularly significant: registered PM Vishwakarma artisans can access collateral-free loans of ₹1 lakh (first tranche) at 5% interest rate, upgradeable to ₹2 lakh (second tranche) after satisfactory repayment. This is one of the most affordable credit facilities available for informal sector artisans. The 5% effective interest rate is achieved through the government bearing the credit guarantee and interest subsidy.
To apply, visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) with Aadhaar, mobile number linked to Aadhaar, bank account details, and your caste/ration card. Artisans must be engaged in one of the 18 eligible trades and working with their own hands. Age must be at least 18 years. Family members working in the same trade can also apply independently. Our editorial team reviewed scheme guidelines against the official PM Vishwakarma portal at pmvishwakarma.gov.in, July 2026.
